Therapeutic modalities

When clients have pain, tension or stress, it is usually due to some sort of imbalance. My goal is to restore the body’s natural balance, thus reducing pressure and discomfort.

I use several different types of therapies, depending on the physical issues involved and the preferences of the client.

These include:

MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling (also called collagen induction therapy) is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses a handheld device to create microscopic skin punctures in your skin to stimulate your body to produce elastin and collagen. Micro-needling improves the texture of your skin to give you a healthier, firmer skin and younger appearance..

LED LIGHT THERAPY

LED light therapy is known by a few different names including phototherapy, red light therapy or low-level light therapy. It is supported by thousands of peer-reviewed and published clinical research papers from prestigious institutions around the world. You can view a few of those studies here. The rather simple definition of LED light therapy is the application of specific wavelengths of light applied to tissue to obtain beneficial therapeutic results. Think of it as photosynthesis for humans. .

Cosmetic Acupuncture

During a typical procedure, your acupuncturist will insert approximately 40 to 70 tiny and painless needles (like the size of a hair) into your face. The science behind it works like this: as the needles puncture the skin, they create wounds called microtraumas. These small punctures work to stimulate your lymphatic and circulatory systems which work together to deliver the nutrients and oxygen our skin cells need to nourish the skin from the inside out.

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture helps to prevent illness by improving the overall functioning of the body’s immune and organ systems.

Acupuncture can treat existing illnesses and injuries, prevent both recurrence of illnesses and new illness as well as improve overall health.

CUPPING THERAPY

Based on principles of ancient Chinese medicine, this specialty massage uses cups to create suction on the body, increasing the blood flow and promoting healing.

Often used by athletes to decrease muscle tightness and pain, most clients feel immediate relief and experience increased range of motion.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

The pressure of deep tissue massage can help relieve tension and tight muscles but it should always be comfortable.

Some people are more sensitive than others and do better with less pressure. I always check in with the client to make sure we are using the proper amount of pressure.

PRENATAL MASSAGE

Pregnancy puts a great deal of strain on the body.

A prenatal massage helps alleviate stress on weight-bearing joints and promotes good blood circulation but it requires the proper techniques and precautions. I use light to moderate pressure and focus on helping the client to relax.

SPORTS MASSAGE

A sports massage helps athletes recover from training soreness and minor strains. It focuses on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and aggressive movements associated with the client’s sport.

Sports massages are most effective when combined with a stretching program.

REIKI

Reiki is a form of energy work in which the practitioner uses a light touch to promote relaxation, decrease stress and improve overall health.

It triggers the body’s natural healing abilities to correct imbalances caused by emotional or physical trauma, injury, anxiety, toxicity or nutritional depletion.

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute uses massage techniques to reduce pain and stress in its patients.
